Dear Community Members-
We are living very different lives from the ones we were used to. The old life wasn’t perfect but it was familiar and we found ways to advocate and make things work. We found comfort and sometimes humor in our shared struggles, and together we built better lives and better communities. It’s time to come together and begin to re-design our lives and our communities, starting with listening, talking, and supporting one another as we adapt to this new life and share new ideas.
The ACL is holding a four-week series called “At Home With The ACL”. These twice a week online conversations cover many aspects of life at home. There will be opportunities to speak about the struggles and the process of acceptance, as well as share practical solutions, survival skills, and useful resources. Upcoming sessions are:
Life at Home: May 19th ~ 4 - 5:15pm / May 23rd 10 - 11:15am
Whether we live alone or with others, we are home almost all the time. How do we create balance, connect with the world, take time away from stress, safely do the groceries, etc.
School at Home: May 26th ~ 4 - 5:15pm / May 30th 10 - 11:15am
School and home have been separate places with different people, resources, and expectations, and our primary role has been parent. But home has become the classroom and we have become the teacher. How do we create a school within a home and tap the teacher within? What can we expect from the public education system?
Community at Home: June 2nd ~ 4 - 5:15pm / June 6th 10 - 11:15am
How do we begin to safely rebuild our personal community? What are all the ways people can be together? What can we do to help hold our personal community together?
