ACL Board of Directors

2025 Candidates

Annie Scott

I became familiar with the ACL through work that I was involved in at Boulder County a number of years ago and appreciate the unique [advocacy] that the organization provides for those in the intellectual developmental disabilities community. My personal connection to those with IDD began in childhood when I was a part of Circle of Friends, a lunchtime group at school that facilitated relationships between students with and without IDD. I was later a partner in Special Olympics and have since had various other personal and professional connections to the community. I feel I am well suited to serve on the Board due to experiences I have had working with the public as a staff person at several non-profit organizations, as well as through my time in local government in program development, administration, and funding roles.

I am a father of two great boys, one of whom is lives with autism. I spent nearly 20 years providing financing for affordable housing and small business in Colorado. In that time, I gained a strong knowledge of mission-related organizations in Colorado and subsidized affordable housing in particular. For the past 16 months, my primary client has been the Inclusive Housing Coalition (IHC); a Colorado non-profit organization that I helped to create. My role has been to lead the development of the IHC from inception as a legal entity to an active and fully functioning organization capable of meeting its mission. ACL and its Housing Network has been an important partner as we continue to develop. I welcome the opportunity to lend my skills and experience to ACL.

I am a parent of an almost 18 year old with Down syndrome and have been involved with The Arc since she was eight weeks old when I attended a training, Mobilizing Families, with The Arc of Jefferson, Clear Creek & Gilpin Counties. I then began working for that chapter when my daughter was one year old, working as a fundraiser where I introduced The Arc and its mission to the community and increased its revenue, diversifying their resources. I left there to work on systemic advocacy at the state level where I served on The Arc of Colorado's Board of Directors in a number of leadership roles, including two terms as president. After leaving the board last year due to term limits, I have found that I want to give back to the network of chapters. Living in my area, I interact with many families and community members in Broomfield. ACL has a reputation as a compassionate and respected chapter and I believe my skills can enhance that reputation.

Weslyn Austin

Since 1988, I have been deeply connected to ACL, first as a board member and later as an employee. Throughout my involvement, I have witnessed the unwavering commitment of everyone associated with ACL and remain passionate about helping individuals achieve quality, inclusive lives. In addition to my work with ACL, I have served on boards and committees of other nonprofits, broadening my perspective on community service and advocacy. Professionally, I have spent my career as both an advocate and accountant, embracing every opportunity to make a difference. A significant part of my understanding of disability systems has also come from my personal journey—raising and supporting my son, who has an intellectual and developmental disability (IDD). I look forward to bringing my professional skills, personal insights, and lifelong advocacy experience to ACL’s Board of Directors, helping the organization grow and continue its vital mission of supporting and uplifting the IDD community.
