INTRODUCTION TO THE ACL
The Association for Community Living in Boulder County is a volunteer advocacy organization. We are one of 1,200 chapters which comprise The Arc (formerly the Association for Retarded Citizens of the United States). Our MissionWe believe that people with developmental disabilities belong in the community in natural proportions -- to live, to work, and to participate fully in all aspects of community life. The ACL in Boulder County exists to ensure these rights by acting as a catalyst to promote attitudes, practices, programs and policies that result in full participation. Organizational ProfileACL/BC is a resource for individuals with disabilities, their families friends and advocates who live in or around Boulder and Broomfield Counties in Colorado. ACL/BC provides individual and systems-change advocacy on issues important to individuals with developmental disabilities. ACL/BC is firmly rooted in the belief that, with the proper supports, individuals with developmental disabilities can be full participants in the community. This website contains valuable information on issues important to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. The ACL has been serving Boulder County for forty years. Our Philosophy... of seeing the gifts which every person brings reflects our belief that all people have abilities and talents that can be expressed through participation in the community. The ACL develops, supports, and enhances efforts to bring people with developmental disabilities into the mainstream of community life. |
